2026 Small-Fleet AI Dash Cam Pricing & Features Study

What 5-, 10-, 25- and 50-vehicle fleets can determine from publicly available AI fleet dash-camera pricing — including hardware, required services, features and contract terms.

Of 17 providers reviewed, seven published accepted numerical camera offers. Two met the study's full-price reproducibility test.

Disclosure

This study was conducted by Spytec GPS, which is one of the providers analyzed.

To make the research reproducible, the study uses current public first-party information, links to its primary sources, states its methodology, and does not use third-party pricing estimates to fill missing data.

The study evaluates pricing transparency, buying requirements and documented product capabilities. It does not rank providers or declare an overall winner.

Executive summary

AI fleet dash-camera pricing is harder to compare than a list of monthly prices suggests.

Spytec reviewed current public U.S. information from 17 fleet-camera providers relevant to small commercial fleets. We looked not only for an advertised camera price, but for the complete costs and requirements necessary to deploy a connected dual-facing AI fleet-camera system.

Seven of the 17 providers published at least one numerical camera-related price that met the study's source rules. But those numbers often represented different things: an add-on to a separately priced GPS platform, a starting price, a special purchasing program or an incomplete recurring bundle.

Two of 17 providers had enough accepted public information for a five-vehicle fleet to reproduce the complete cost of a defined qualifying configuration.

Only 2 of 17 providers audited published enough information to reproduce the complete cost of a qualifying AI fleet-camera configuration without contacting sales: Spytec and Linxup. Their economics differ substantially because Linxup's no-contract configuration includes separate camera and GPS hardware and two recurring service components. Both also offer direct self-service purchasing. Linxup is modeled on its defined no-contract configuration; it offers other contract structures and promotions that the study does not model. This is a pricing-transparency finding, not a winner declaration.

Pricing transparency is not the same thing as product quality or price level. Quote-based providers may offer competitive pricing. This study measures what a buyer can independently determine from current public information.

These findings measure public pricing transparency, not product quality, negotiated pricing or overall value.

From 17 providers to 2 reproducible prices

Each stage applies a stricter public-evidence test to the same 17 providers. Falling out of a stage is a statement about what is publicly documented, not about the product.

Separately, 2 of 17 had an established direct self-service path for a five-vehicle buyer to begin purchasing a qualifying configuration without first contacting sales or a reseller. The same two providers, Spytec and Linxup, passed both tests.

Why the counts and the public-price table overlap. Some providers classified as quote-only for their primary general-market configuration still publish numerical prices for separate products or special programs. For example, Nauto publishes VEDR pricing and Lytx publishes an SF400 VEDR qualified-purchaser offer; neither is used as the provider's general Primary Comparable AI Configuration price.

What Does an AI Fleet Dash Cam Cost for 5, 10, 25 and 50 Vehicles?

The study's primary pricing comparison includes only configurations for which current public first-party information is sufficient to reproduce the full mandatory cost of a qualifying AI fleet-camera system.

For this study, a qualifying configuration must include all seven of the following:

  1. Road-facing video
  2. Driver-facing video
  3. Cellular/cloud connectivity
  4. Commercial fleet-management access
  5. GPS/location association
  6. At least one AI, ADAS or DMS safety capability
  7. Remotely accessible event video

Missing competitor prices are not filled with review-site estimates, unofficial quotes or assumptions. Two configurations met the standard: Spytec Pulse Vision on its annual service, and Linxup LinxCam AI plus required GPS service on Linxup's defined no-contract purchasing path. The table shows first-year deployment cost. Spytec's first-year cost equals its annual recurring cost because mandatory hardware, setup, installation and shipping are $0; Linxup's first year includes camera and GPS hardware, so its annual recurring service is shown separately. This is not a product-quality ranking.

Linxup modeled inputs — defined no-contract configuration

The study models Linxup's current public no-contract buying path because it is publicly reproducible and avoids assumptions about promotional pricing. Linxup also offers two- and three-year contracts with lower hardware prices and a 5-plus-device three-year promotion; those paths are not modeled. Minor rounded representations on the general pricing page do not displace the exact buyer-facing store price.

These are modeled public costs, not negotiated quotes. Taxes and optional products are excluded.

A missing competitor total does not mean the product is more expensive; it means the complete cost could not be independently reproduced under the study's public-source standard.

A provider can publish a legitimate camera price without publishing enough information to calculate the complete deployable system cost.

The records below preserve useful public numbers without pretending they are directly comparable. Each one keeps the price with its unit, term, inclusions and the reason it did not enter the strict modeled-cost comparison.

A public camera price and a complete system price are different things. None of the records above should be read as a per-vehicle total, and none should be read as more or less expensive than a quote-only provider.

Why a Dash-Camera Price Isn't Always the System Price

Across the market, a publicly visible number can represent a complete system, a camera add-on, a starting price, a special-program price, an incomplete recurring bundle, conflicting current prices, or no numerical price at all.

The study keeps two questions separate: what type of number a provider published, and whether the primary configuration's complete cost is reproducible. Each type below names one example from the research.

Quote-only pricing does not mean expensive pricing, and it does not mean the product is unavailable to small fleets. Several quote-only providers explicitly position products at small or mid-sized fleets. Pricing transparency and price level are separate questions.

"$0 hardware" describes what a buyer pays, not necessarily who owns the device. Where a provider publishes explicit ownership or lease language, the table says so; where it does not, ownership is not asserted.

Camera and Video Capabilities

Most providers in the study document road- and driver-facing video and some form of event upload. The differences that matter to a small fleet sit in the details: whether footage can be pulled remotely on demand, whether "live video" is continuous or limited, and how much is recorded locally.

Reading this table

"Live video" is not one thing. Some platforms cap live-stream minutes per device per month; one platform's "Live View" is a stream of still frames rather than continuous video. A storage-hours figure depends on device model, card size and recording settings, so the study prints a figure only where the provider's current page states it for a named device.

What AI Safety Events Are Publicly Documented?

AI, ADAS and DMS event coverage varies more than the marketing phrase "AI dash cam" suggests. The matrix records which of nine common safety events each provider's reviewed material documents for the exact configuration studied. Where a provider sells materially different configurations, each has its own row.

Speeding alerts are often GPS-based rather than camera-vision-based; the matrix counts them when the reviewed configuration documents them, whichever sensor produces them. Where a provider's own documentation attributes an event to the vehicle tracker rather than camera AI, the cell says so.

The same evidence standard is applied to Spytec as to every other provider. Where a provider's reviewed pages were help-center or installation documentation rather than product marketing, fewer events were established, and the matrix reflects that.

Built-In GPS Is Not the Same as Full Vehicle Telematics

Many AI fleet cameras contain GPS, but that does not mean they read vehicle-engine data. Camera and telematics architecture differs materially across providers: some cameras are self-contained, some pair with a separate tracker or gateway, some draw on the vehicle's own OEM telematics, and some add engine data through a diagnostic cable or ECM connection.

None of these architectures is inherently superior. The point for a buyer is to know which one a price actually covers.

What Can a Five-Vehicle Fleet Determine Before Talking to Sales?

Price discovery and purchasing accessibility are different questions. A provider can publish a complete price without offering an online purchase path, and a provider can offer online purchase without publishing a reproducible complete price.

The study applies two separate tests to each provider from the perspective of a five-vehicle U.S. buyer using only current public information.

Core result

Only 2 of 17 providers audited published enough information to reproduce the complete cost of a qualifying AI fleet-camera configuration without contacting sales: Spytec and Linxup. Their economics differ substantially because Linxup's no-contract configuration includes separate camera and GPS hardware and two recurring service components. Both also offer direct self-service purchasing, so the same two providers pass both tests. Linxup is modeled on its defined no-contract configuration; it also offers other contract structures and promotions that the study does not model. This is a pricing-transparency finding, not a winner declaration.

A direct self-service buying path was established for Spytec and Linxup. For the other providers, the reviewed evidence did not establish such a path; several direct buyers to sales or resellers, while some buying-path evidence remained incomplete.

"Sales-assisted" and "reseller" statuses record the path the reviewed pages present, not a statement that the provider declines small-fleet customers. Several quote-only providers explicitly market to fleets of five vehicles or fewer.

Key Findings

Seven findings follow from the evidence above. They describe public transparency and documented architecture, not product quality, and the study does not declare a winner.

  1. Complete public pricing was rare

    Only 2 of 17 providers had enough accepted public information to reproduce the complete generally available qualifying system cost for a five-vehicle fleet.

  2. More providers publish numbers than the strict comparison suggests

    Seven providers published at least one accepted numerical camera offer, but only two represented a fully reproducible generally available qualifying system.

  3. A camera price may not be the system price

    Some public camera prices exclude required GPS/fleet service or represent only a starting price.

  4. Price discovery and purchasing accessibility are different

    The two providers with a direct self-service path also exposed a reproducible complete price for a defined configuration, while several others published partial prices with no self-service path, so the two tests remain distinct.

  5. Built-in GPS is not necessarily full vehicle telematics

    Different providers use built-in GPS, separate gateways, OEM telematics, diagnostic cables or ECM integrations.

  6. "Live streaming" can hide meaningful plan limits

    Some platforms publicly limit monthly live-stream usage, and one platform's "Live View" is a stream of still frames rather than continuous video.

  7. Products targeting small fleets may still require sales-assisted purchasing

    Small-fleet positioning does not necessarily mean self-service buying.

The Nauto page at nauto.com/vedr returned Nauto's own "Not Found" page on the audit date and is not cited; the Nauto VEDR pricing page is. Geotab's Marketplace listing for GO Focus Plus resolves at marketplace.geotab.com/solutions/go-focus-plus-ai-dashcam/; an /en-us/ variant of that link returned a 404 on the audit date. The Geotab Order Now guide and the Lytx DriveCam specification page were read in their en-GB locales because no U.S. locale of those pages was located. How much does an AI fleet dash cam cost per vehicle?

Published pricing varies substantially in structure. Some providers publish complete system prices, while others publish starting prices, camera add-ons or no numerical price at all. This study separates those categories rather than treating all published monthly figures as equivalent.

What does an AI fleet dash cam cost for 5 vehicles?

Under this study's strict public-pricing standard, Spytec Pulse Vision models to $1,899.76 per year for five vehicles after its published five-device quantity discount, and Linxup's LinxCam AI plus required GPS service models to $6,249.90 in the first year for five vehicles on Linxup's no-contract path, with $3,900 per year in recurring service thereafter. Complete public totals for the other reviewed configurations could not be independently reproduced.

What does Linxup LinxCam AI cost?

On Linxup's no-contract path, the LinxCam AI camera is $439.99 including the first month of its required $40-per-month AI service, plus a $69.99 GPS tracker and $25-per-vehicle monthly GPS service, which the study models as $1,249.98 per vehicle in the first year and $65 per vehicle per month in recurring service thereafter. Linxup also offers two- and three-year contracts and a 5-plus-device promotion that the study does not model.

Which providers published numerical fleet-camera prices?

Seven of the 17 providers reviewed published at least one numerical camera-related offer accepted under the study's source rules: Spytec, Linxup, RAM Tracking, ClearPathGPS, Azuga, Lytx and Nauto. Those figures are not directly comparable because they represent different pricing structures, products or purchasing programs.

What does Lytx cost?

Lytx publishes an SF400 VEDR offer for qualified purchasers at $36 per vehicle per month on a 36-month lease, or $420 upfront plus $26 per vehicle per month on a 24-month purchase arrangement, with installation included. The study does not treat those figures as general Lytx fleet pricing because ordinary small-fleet eligibility at those rates was not established.

What does Nauto VEDR cost?

Nauto publishes VEDR pricing of $25 per unit per month plus a $375 one-time per-unit fee under a one-year contract. The VEDR offer is kept separate from Nauto's broader AI Fleet Safety Platform because the exact VEDR documentation does not establish every criterion used in the study's primary comparable configuration.

Why aren't Samsara, Motive and other providers shown with estimated prices?

Because this study uses current first-party public pricing only. Review-site estimates, unofficial sales quotes and third-party price ranges are not inserted when a provider does not publish a reproducible price.

Is a $30/month fleet dash cam really $30/month?

Not necessarily. ClearPathGPS, for example, lists a $30/month camera add-on while its required fleet plans are quote-priced.

Does a dash cam with GPS replace a fleet GPS tracker?

Sometimes. Some cameras include full GPS fleet tracking. Other providers use a separate telematics gateway. Built-in GPS also does not necessarily provide engine diagnostics, fuel, odometer or other vehicle data.

What is the difference between a starting price and a complete system price?

A starting price identifies the lowest advertised amount but may not establish which hardware, AI tier, fleet platform or contract applies. A complete system price includes all required components for the studied configuration.

Are quote-only providers necessarily more expensive?

No. Quote-only means the public standard price could not be independently reproduced. It does not mean the vendor's actual quote is high.

Why does the study focus on AI dash cams?

The primary comparison focuses on modern connected dual-facing fleet-camera systems that combine video with at least one AI, ADAS or DMS safety capability. Basic consumer cameras and local-only SD recorders are not equivalent to that use case.
