We consider the Spytec Atlas to be the best choice for a magnetic GPS tracker. We’re not just saying that because we make them; the Spytec Atlas strikes the right balance of:

  • long battery life,

  • tough durability,

  • high accuracy,

  • and easy concealability.

Want to know what makes us so confident? Well, we’re happy to share it with you!

Powerful Magnetic GPS Case

While we do sell the Spytec Atlas on its own, far more people buy the GPS tracker bundled with the M2 magnetic case. This is a plastic hard-shell case that has powerful magnets on the bottom. These magnets can attach strongly to any steel surface–like the underside of a car.

Once the tracker and case are secure, they’ll stay in that position no matter how much the car bounces around. Potholes? No movement. Curbs? No dice. Speed bumps? That tracker isn’t going anywhere. And that’s a good thing, because it’ll stay in place even as thieves race away trying to evade the cops.

Stealthy GPS Placement

Vehicle GPS trackers like the Spytec Pulse OBD and the Pulse Wired are great, but they’re not very subtle. OBD slots are right under the car’s dashboard, and an attentive thief can just rip out a GPS tracking device and toss it out a window. Hardwired GPS trackers are better, since they are in the engine compartment and out of casual view. But a smart thief can pop the hood and easily spot the GPS tracker sitting on top of the battery.

The GL300MA GPS Tracker can easily be installed underneath a car

The Spytec Atlas is a great hidden GPS tracker that is easy for thieves to miss. You can put it in the wheel well or attach it to the undercarriage–places thieves might not have time to check if they’re in a rush to make a clean getaway.

Waterproof GPS Construction

Water and electronics don’t mix. That’s why the M2 Case for the Spytec Atlas is sealed and fully waterproof, weatherproof, and dust-proof. You can protect the tracking device from rain and puddles. The case is also impact-resistant, which shields the tracker from debris kicked up by your tires and possible impacts if you hit a bump.

As for the tracker itself? The Atlas GPS is built to the IP67 standard, which means it can be immersed in water for a short period of time or get splashed by water without breaking.

Long-Lasting GPS Battery Life

The Atlas GPS tracker can provide up to 9 days of battery life on standard update speeds, which is already plenty of time. But you can also change the update speed to Power Saving Mode, which reduces the number of updates it sends, but can extend the battery life to over 2 weeks.

You can also buy additional accessories like the M4 battery case and M6 battery case, which have rechargeable battery units that extend the Atlas’ life by 6 months and 9 months respectively.

Customizable Update Speed

If you haven’t already picked up on it, “update speed” is how often a GPS tracker broadcasts its location. The faster it broadcasts, the more precise the tracking is and the more power it uses.

We should point out that having the ability to change your own update speed is kind of a big deal. Some GPS brands charge you by how often the tracker updates. Which means that if you want to make your tracker update less (and therefore increase your battery life), you’ll have to change the entire way you’re being billed.

Other GPS tracker brands don’t charge you by update speed, but still lock the setting behind admin controls, so you have to reach out to their customer support to do anything.

Spyec, on the other hand, gives you full control over your update speed right in the app. You can pick between 4 update speeds:

You can switch between settings any time! Just pick a setting and wait a few minutes for the device to reconfigure.

Affordable Subscription Model

We have very competitive subscription rates for the Atlas GPS tracker (which you can find here). While you can pay the base fee of $34.95 a month, most of our customers find the Annual package to be the most value-rich. Pre-pay for the year and your monthly rate works out to be just $22.95 a month.

And before you stop reading, let me assure you that subscription fees for GPS trackers are totally normal. They’re an industry standard because of the nature of the technology. Remember how I said that GPS trackers send updates using 4G? That requires access to cellular networks, which requires paying for connectivity.

There are GPS tracker brands that offer no monthly fees, but those make their money by selling your data to other companies. Are you really willing to let other people know your address and day to day itinerary?

Yeah, I wouldn’t either.

And if you think 4G connectivity isn’t enough to cover the cost of the subscription, you’d be right. It covers a lot more, too. Like product development, manpower operations, and–more relevant to you–the companion app.

Spytec GPS Companion App

As advanced as the Atlas GPS tracker is, it can only really do one thing: broadcast its location as a signal. That’s useless to you unless you have some way of receiving and processing that data.

That’s where the app comes in.

Branded as the Hapn app, Spytec’s companion GPS tracker app offers a powerful collection of tools and capabilities that will keep your car safe from thieves. Things like:

  • Live tracking

  • Geofencing

  • Movement notifications

  • Live link sharing

Live Tracking

A GPS tracker wouldn’t be a GPS tracker unless it could actually–you know–track your vehicle’s location in real-time

And that’s exactly what the Hapn app will let you do. It offers live tracker updates so you can know exactly where your vehicle is at any given moment.

“But wait,” you ask. “What if I set it to Power Saving mode and it’s not updating fast enough?”

Remember when I showed you the controls for changing your update speed? You can adjust it on the fly as the tracker is moving and set it to “Performance mode,” so now you get the fastest tracker updates possible.

Movement and Geofencing Notifications

What if you could set up a digital watchdog that started barking its head off when something suspicious happens?

You can set that up with Spytec’s Hapn app. There are multiple ways you can pull this off, depending on what is most practical for your situation.

The first method is an alert called movement notification. You basically set the system up to alert you any time the tracker detects significant movement. It’s a good way to detect thieves trying to make off with your car–or if your car is parked illegally and is getting towed.

But maybe other people use the car, too, and movement notifications are sending too many false positives. You can geofence the area around your house (or even your neighborhood). The Hapn app will then send alerts whenever the tracker crosses the geofence boundary.

Let’s say you set the tracker on your minivan. You get a notification in the morning when the family leaves, and another when they come back in the afternoon. No problem! Everything’s normal, and it’s good to know they’re safe.

Then a boundary notification is triggered at 1 AM. Nobody is supposed to be up at that time, which only means one thing: thieves have made off with your car. That’s when you call the cops and do the most logical next step.

Generate and Share Live Links

The cops will try to help you recover your car and catch the thieves, but they’re probably going to do it the old way: putting out a description of your vehicle and the license plate. It’s slow, unreliable, and has a high risk of failure.

You know what doesn’t have a high risk of failure? Generating a live link to your GPS tracker’s live map and sharing it with the police.

With a live link, the cops will be able to see exactly where your vehicle is headed in real-time. They’ll be able to track its location and maybe predict where it’s going so they can roll out the welcome mat.

Of course, this only works if the car thieves don’t find your GPS tracker. Which they shouldn’t, if you used the magnetic case properly and hid the tracker in a good spot.
